A quiet for the gardeners

Not long ago the well-being of our garden was threatened. Before we act, we thought prudent scrutiny other gardeners to find out how they clung to its gardens, as well as the peace of mind when full of inappropriate pets.

What to prescribe the well-mannered Emily Post Garden for the man whose edge tulip had been established in the dust of the playful puppy someone?

"Eat their chickens and his prowling cats and dogs in the receiver's dog," roared the man who "rides himself in common sense."

But it must be a choice between the garden and its neighbour? If this common sense advice, could obtain an enemy and lost to a neighbour. It can not eat their chickens and they also have their friendship.

The first lady that I saw was scathing. "Strawberries, Lily pools and aves-canción are preferable to neighbors of maintenance of the plague, all forms, so why worry telling them?" When offered as animals belonging to them and not the residents themselves were the culprits, said, "but it is neighbours that allow them to run in general." "Don't try to a dog in the Court - yet!"

"Neighbors, bah!" I have in my next stop. "He is someone worthy of the neighbouring name which is guilty of converting a loose cat, a cat eating bird un-belled and all of them are no matter what he says the silly cat 'MOM'." "Are all killers of birth and will eat a cardinal or a Zorzal when you've only being launched in whipping cream."

The man was ashamed, perspiring, bitter, down on his knee to work on a coherent pansy bed. I put my question. "Hey!", said bitterly, "my thoughts and my lettuce and my pea vines will probably make its fryers contractor". He received at his feet and exploded in my face, "but they aren't the relief of me!"

The last small Lady, a young mother, was no more soft than the others. "Just by looking at my little blue spruce." Ruined! Absolutely ruined! And his dog had contaminated arena-pila my baby until that she no longer can use her. If you ask what I do, I can tell you. "Shoot him, as safe as I am alive, the next time that it becomes".

But, even travelling pest possible shooters feel a bit. After all, he is the owner, not the mascot, which is really the blame for not keeping their animals at home.

Care for your plants is easy

The definition of "House plant" is rather loose. All of exotic flowers in cactus contrasts with leafy trees can be a floor of the House. If it can be adjusted through the door and grows, it is a plant of the House. In all shapes and sizes, these plants have special needs to keep them healthy and good appearance at his home. Even if you are not a green thumb, you can keep them looking great with only a few simple tips.

First, choose a plant that is right for you. The infinite variety of plants is great, but want to make sure that you choose is right for your home and your skills. If you plan to locate the plant in a window in the North of his home, then under light needs plants will be better (orchids, Ivy, young trees). If your choice is a South or West window that gets plenty of light, that what you want to place a plant that needs such as cacti and ferns.

Look plants for the purchase of your home, make sure that you appear to be healthy. A plant that shows the correct colour and buds or new growth is a healthy plant and will be much easier to transplant and take care of that you one is not so healthy. Bushier plants are generally stronger than "leggy" plants (growth of root length and heavy). This is because a it is transplanting and if there is too much at the bottom and not enough on the top to support it, cannot be so. Remember, plants eat sunlight, so how much more plants in the upper part, better.

Plants that have browning walk past or yellowed leaves as this is a sign of low and irrigation (respectively). Once you choose a plant and move it to a new container and place it in your home, expect to lose some leaves and obtain an aspect a bit sick for a day or two. It is acclimatised to its new home, so it will take a little time.

The plant must occupy the room, not only based on the exposure to the Sun, but also the climate of the room. The bathroom and the kitchen are probably more humid than your living room or bedroom, plants with heavy (such as ferns) water requirements are better off in kitchens and bathrooms while plants with dry needs (like cactus) can be better elsewhere.

Remember that to take care of the plants it means you need to provide adequate light and water. Light is what they eat and water is what drink, so supply both to maintain its healthy plant. The plants "bend" and grow in the direction of the light, so make sure you activate your plants regularly to give increasingly "side" the Sun. A u-turn with each irrigation usually does the trick.

Most of the plants make growth at night, so make sure that yours has some darkness on a daily basis. This means that light bulbs that mimic natural light or the Sun must be deactivated at least a couple of hours for the plant of darkness. Also, if they live in the regions of the North of the world and has seasons with little sunlight, complement their plants for a couple of hours a day with lights that mimic natural light. These are available at most garden stores, and are not very expensive.

Finally, keep pets out of plants to avoid getting injured by restless animals. Don't forget water regularly, according to the needs of the plant and its novel green thumb to enjoy.

Choose a plant that adapts to the Interior conditions

Although many plants can be adapted as well to the interior or exterior conditions, some will flourish in the protected environment inside your home, while others enjoy outdoor elements. If you enjoy gardening, make sure you understand the requirements of its plant when choosing a new floor for your home or garden.

Herbs are one of the more adaptable types of plants available. While they have enough light and drainage, which thrive on the inside or outside. However, if you are looking for specifically so that plants kept inside, there are many other plants that are suitable for this.

Laurus nobilis, a plant native to the Mediterranean, it grows well even in conditions of poor soils, while it receives plenty of light. You do not need water frequently or fertilize excessively; in fact, it is quite possible to sobreriegue or add too much fertilizer. Go easy to care for a plant as Laurus nobilis.

Parsley is an excellent herb for planting in the interior. It will better inside than when exposed to the outdoor elements. Loves the Sun, like most herbs, so place your planter of parsley near a window where they will receive lots of sunlight.

Unlike many herbs, plants bonsai most prefer to go out in the open air. However, there are several species that are well adapted to indoor conditions. In some climates, bonsai in the open air can not grow, and actually will do better in the interior. For example, tropical bonsai will do well outside if you live in a warm climate. But if it falls below 50 degrees for more than a day, it is best to keep their tropical plants bonsai indoors. When you keep plants in inside, you can control the conditions.

You may think that you need to simulate the tropical conditions of these plants, which you yourself uncomfortable. However, all you need to do is make the area near the plants warm and humid. Regularly spray your plants with water. However, keep them out of direct sunlight, as they can overwhelm even plants that thrive in the heat and sunlight.

To maintain the plants, such as the healthy Peace Lily plant , purchase additional lights or heat lamps to simulate the conditions in which they grow. Buy a kit to monitor the conditions of the soil. Above all, make sure that the plants that it chooses well adapted to the Interior conditions to begin with. When you choose a plant that thrive only in interiors and try to force it to flourish inside your home, it will only end frustrated in its growth.

Cleaning of plants for indoor air

Three common plants for indoor use include Dracaena (Dracaena fragrans), Pothos (Epipremnum aureum) and peace lilies (Spathiphyllum clevelandii). Choose the right plant for an interior space may improve the quality of the air and the interior decoration.

Dracaena (Dracaena fragrans): These plants are resistant to the interior and require little maintenance. Dracaena can be placed close to indirect lighting, but make sure that you get enough sunlight for the normal growth rate. The plants should have healthy foliage, strong trunks and an established root system. The trunk should not be languished or covered with Brown foliage. Dracaena should be watered regularly and any meeting of excess water must be drained and discarded. Too much water will cause that the stems soft and possibly rot. Plants require minimal maintenance and must be desempolvadas occasionally.

Photos (Epipremnum aureum): Pothos are originally native to Southeast Asia and are very suitable for indoor climates. Green varieties grow well with inner solar light, indirect. Miscellany varieties need at least an average amount of sunlight. Normal temperatures between 60 and 75 degrees are the best climate for growth. Something more than an increase or decrease in these temperatures can cause the plant require more water and move to a warmer location. The plant can be weekly misted and don't mind a little extra moisture. Make sure that the soil drains well between each irrigation. Spider mites can cause yellow leaves and become rough. The plant of spraying with insecticides or increase the level of humidity should deter any return spider mites. Pothos must be fertilized every month with a water soluble plant food. These plants grow quickly and should be pruned accordingly again.

Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum clevelandii): Plant of excellent filter, removing pollutants such as formaldehyde, gasoline and carbon monoxide. Peace lilies prefer low natural light and grow well in the interior. The plant has been known to grow in the open air in shaded areas, in hot and humid climates. Peace lilies do not require large amounts of water unless the interior temperatures are warm and indirect exposure to the Sun exceeds more than five hours a day. Soil and root system must be soaked at least once a week and allowed to drain properly. You can indicate if your plant is not getting adequate amounts of water. Too much water will do that to constantly moist soil and leaves become yellow; While incoherent irrigation shows signs of leaves wilted and yellow foliage of tip. The plants can be fertilizadas with a 20-20 - 20 water soluble fertilizer; too much application will result in Brown spotted foliage. Pests and diseases are quite common with peace lilies, but can be controlled with care and maintenance. The Peace Lily transplantation can be everything you need. Peace lilies are also instructions for simple deletion. Remove any spent flowers and leaves of discoloration. These low-maintenance plants can also survive in hydroponic containers. Enjoy plant while that clean the air.

Dangerous plants and your cat or dog

You can do many things to keep their cats or dogs of damage, but a little danger can still stay in your home - your plants and food.

Funny pets could have a taste of any plant. A pet may feel the need to self-medicate (as cats eat grass), and thus might encourage the plant in a pot. Or they may just be curious. Despite being toxic, some good plants like (for example, the flavor of a Berry is not any indication of its security, as some berries can be tasted fine but highly dangerous).

It is also not any guarantee if a plant is edible for people. Many plants can be toxic to pets, even completely safe for humans. For example, onions are very toxic to cats. Also, the amounts that need pets to eat to be affected is much smaller than the would have to eat, due to its small size.

However, although many plants are perfectly safe, many are not, and it is necessary to be aware of what others to avoid.

Cats that should be avoided completely: China evegreen, crotons, peace lillies, onion, spider Lily, soles of rubber, iris, perennial, Eyed susan, belladonna, narcissus (plants and light bulb), tobacco (for example, boots of ashtray), rhododendrons, other ivys, English Ivy, rhubarb and asparagus fern, plants of tulips and bulbs, Lily of the Valley, Easter lily, aloe vera, holly, oriental Lily, chrysanthemum, jasmine, java beans, potato, poppy, mushrooms, umbrella plant, honeysuckle, mistletoe, amaryllis, seeds of apple, peas, Easter flower bulbs, quoits (all types) tiger lily, baby's breath, calendula, Bell, Philodendron, berenjenay gum, which can include a wide selection of plants at home and pantry.

Dogs must be kept far (inter alia): Croton, apricot, Chinese evergreen, Narciso, lilly of Easter, jasmine, baby's breath, Philodendron, potato, Hortensia, flor de Pascua, apple, mushrooms, plants corn, honeysuckle, wild mushrooms, laurel mountain, language mother-in-laws, walnuts and many nuts, apple, seeds of PEAR, Aloe Vera, holly, plant umbrella, green potatoes (especially skins), Lily of the Valley, virginia creeper, Lily peace, jade, Jacinto, glycine, iris, Plum, peach, apricot, cherry, swimming pools, schefflera, almonds, susan eyes, ficus, English Ivy, tomato plants (and green tomatoes) and yew trees. This would include a wide variety of plants at home and pantry.

Note that this list is not complete. If you have questions about the plants, research in your library or the Internet, see expert friends or if all else fails, get rid of the subject.

Even if you really value a favorite plant, your dog or cat must be first. If any plant is creating a health problem, an easy choice is what to do and you can make the right decision for the well-being of your pet.

Growing the fairly hard - temperamental lilies

Most gardeners as lilies that are reliable and reasonably easy to grow; they want to be sure of a certain splash of color or a special quality of charm or dignity in his portrayal of frontier or landscape. Fortunately, the majority of our lilies fall into this category of reliability.

There is a number, however, that present a true challenge, that the demand of cultivators something in the form of special knowledge, skill and care. As it is the case, the majority of these less relaxed lilies are so amazingly beautiful that the Royal gardener is only the most intrigued by its relative difficulty.

Some lilies not easily adjust themselves to the garden because they are capricious wildings from harsh natural environments to simulate on the small plot. Others are difficult because they react badly to the removal and shipment. Others are subjected to various diseases in Garden conditions.

The three diseases that cause the majority of our difficulties are mosaic, basal rot and botrytis. Botrytis blight, however, is so easy to control with mixture of Bordeaux who is false to call difficult lilies affected by it. Mosaic is a virus that spreads by sucking and chewing insects, mainly the aphid melon. Basal rot is a fungus on the ground causing the bulb rot and the whole plant to go to pieces.

Mosaic - Mosaic lilies different reactions are very variable. In some it may appear only as a slight spots in the leaves with no effect on the same floor. In other spots in the feature it is accompanied by a gradual deterioration of the health and vigor of the plant for a period of several years. In a relatively few species stains it is more serious and the effect of the virus causes a marked distortion of the leaves, buds and flowers; in such cases the disease generally result died within a year.

Mosaic can not fully prevent or controlled under any condition but ideal. However, on prevention and practical control are well within reach of every gardener. Given that it is worn only by aphids, its spread can be prevented by regular spraying and shake with malathion to kill these insects and the placement of garden that will prevent their movement from plant to plant.

Aphids are generally the and not move more than 30 or 40 feet in the garden; as a result, this amount of space between the highly sensitive species and plants already infected is a natural protection. If this space is broken by shrubs, plants, or a building, both better.

The main precautions that gardeners have to observe is to avoid planting susceptible of lilies, immediately along which are almost always infected with the disease.

Basal rot. Much less was written about basal rot which on the mosaic, although this disease has also been responsible for many losses of bulb in the past. But our current knowledge of the culture of lily and the prevention of disease, basal rot need because not considered a significant risk to the cultivation of lily.

If the lamps are in good condition when it bought and if the plants are happy in the garden, they could not develop basal rot, except for some highly sensitive species, and these only when planted in soil that has previously been badly infected.

Over the years I have found that 75 percent of the trick of basal rot prevention is to find only the location suitable for each variety. In the preparation of the bed, good drainage must be secured by placing thick gravel, crushed stone, ash or mosaic some distance under the bulbs; I have also found ashes of coal degraded more useful. Manure should be definitely avoided with all Daylilies difficult is too likely to stimulate any bacteria that may be present in the soil.

It is equally important that should be planted bulbs of susceptible varieties, with the possibility of prior infection of soil in mind.

It is also recommended to disinfect bulbs difficult lilies before that was planted. Clean all the rotten tissue bulbs and plunge into a solution of fungicide. Cut the roots of lilies difficult also. This not only eliminates roots injured as a possible source of infection, but it also acts to disinfect the bulbs and stimulate new healthy root growth quickly.

Rot caused by the excavation, storage and shipment is not common these days due to our increased knowledge of the handling of bulbs. A number of species, however, not to travel, especially if they were not dug at the right time.

If the lamps of the lilies is broken when it comes to a shipment, injured and rotten with a sharp knife scales and the light bulb should be deleted disinfected. If the lamps are badly rotten should be returned to the supplier.

Environment. The influences of the environment on the setting of lilies are important, but often so subtle that not clearly understood.

According to most guidelines of care for Lily, Lilium candidum, has a natural preference for a sweet, dry soil, relatively heavy and full sun. Even the best copies of this Lily I've seen settled on a bed of azaleas, right to grow up through the bushes. And the ground, of course, was acid. The average gardener, but will do well to choose a location from sweet and sunny.

Lilium parryi is considered to be a lily of peat bogs, wet places and light shade; and by all means it is the surest way to plant. However, I know of some magnificent specimens growing in a dry Hill, sand, windswept, sunny which appear to be completely at home and satisfied.

If it is feasible at all, however, the conditions under which difficult lilies grow naturally must be given in the garden.

Grows better plant temperature - dependent on

What is the best temperature for growing house plants? Here again, consider each plant's preference, and also the relation of other cultural factors, like humidity. Some plants prefer to grow cooler than average house temperatures, some need more warmth. Optimum figures vary widely.

Except for vines specifically noted as required lower or higher temperatures, you can expect most varieties recommended for growing indoors to be content with the average 65-75 degrees in the home, with a drop of about 10 degrees at night. But since warm air is drying, humidity needs to be stepped up for some varieties, and more frequent watering may be necessary.

When you measure temperature, take the reading in the growing area, not in a cooler window, or over a radiator, or in a far corner of the room.

Plants will usually show you when the temperature is not to their liking. If it is too cool, they will not grow at their usual speed and will refuse to flower. If it is too warm, growth will be sickly and often elongated, particularly if warmth is combined with lack of light. "Bud blast," in which plants their flower buds drop before they open, frequently results from too much warmth and dry air.

Humidity

Except in arid areas, the air in most of the outdoor locations where plants like peace lily outdoors grow naturally contains more moisture than inside a heated home in winter. This humidity, correctly called "relative humidity" is because it is a percentage comparison of the amount of moisture in the air with the total amount of moisture the air can possibly hold at a given temperature.

Plants indicate need for higher humidity by crisping and drying leaf edges and flower buds, and by failing to grow and bloom. When humidity is too high - and particularly when high humidity combines with cool air, moist soil, and lack of light - leaves go soggy, stems feel limp and watery, rot and mildew may result. Adequate circulation of fresh air is a better preventive than cure.

Lily plant of peace to know

If you are starting as a gardener or search a houseplant which requires minimal maintenance, a Peace Lily plant is a great way to start. Peace lilies are ideal in many ways. Tolerates dry soil well and can survive in environments of light low and have exquisite green foliage that goes well with almost any decorative scheme.

The Peace Lily plant has another advantage that makes it ideal for indoor cultivation: the ability to filter pollutants in air. Lilies of peace they were studied by NASA for several years along with a variety of other plants. It was discovered that you can clean a chemical called TCE or trichloroethylene off the air. TEC is a common pollutant used degreasing and other industrial products that can cause liver cancer. Through the Elimination of harmful traditional cultural expressions from the air, the lily can prolong their lives and the lives of his family.

Peace Lily plants have been a part of almost every house I've lived in from school. During my first year, it had a companion who was really in heavy crop in the bedroom. In addition to its Peace Lily plant, had a plant's foundry, lucky bamboo, and a handful of other low-maintenance plants. I am sure of not exactly, but I think she just watered your plants about once a week, if that. However, even with this poor treatment all seemed green, healthy and active.

When he moved from the room, she left her collection of whole plant, including its Peace Lily plant. I wasn't very careful in the selection of their plants, and at the moment in which she moved, many of them had grown too big for the tiny space that we share. I got married to eliminate many of the ferns, as well as the smelting plant, but I kept the plant of peace. He lived for several years, travel with me from the bedrooms to the House that I moved the next year for the apartment complex that I moved to later in the University. He died, but at that time it had adopted a series of Peace Lily cuttings and used to flow a set of new plants. I still have one or two plants of that set, and is now years later. I became more exotic plants of birds of paradise, aloe, and other fauna, but I will never forget the one plant that has things started and showed me that I could take care of green things.

Make a quiet place in your garden

At least part of its limited "artificial landscape" should be organized to provide an area where you can relax and think, a peaceful observation point. I prefer a natural area "planted" instead of the antiquated booth jardĆn-casa structure. Although we all want some homosexual flowers and bright sunshine, also need the isolation of a quiet place, a cool reflective private place. Here you will almost taste the freshness of the air we breathe. You can listen to mourning doves, and let the wind Phoebe, the theft of the Maple. Smell the hot dry scent of summer, the fragrance of the lilac is derived in the breeze.

Our own private retreat is a shade cool spot, a hill above the stream. A slope and a stream are, of course, not essential. Only came to be there for us.

Level demolished, the hideout of terrace is twenty meters in length and 14 wide. Two maples spread shady. We did a small retaining wall on two stones of high (three in some places) to retain the Bank on the one hand and keep the Earth the other side. A rope hammock is attached at one end for the post of cedar, to that effect and at the other end to one of the maples.

Birds and the point of view of the worm
When you are in the hammock is sometimes below the world and sometimes above it as look you at which side of the hammock from. On the one hand searching in the curve of the Prairie. The land lies above and below. On the other hand are in the green of the trees looking down through leaves for the stream with a totally different perspective. That is, to our way of thinking, a great trick and makes its hammock fascinating place never be.

The withdrawal of the terrace is shadow, but the sun shines beyond of the extremities of the maples. Japanese IRIS grows in the Sun halos in the area where we sit; so does the ladder of Jacob, flowers of may in July, the violet flowers played with each stem of lovely foliage and white a small green staircase.

On the other side of the terrace of a section of Dutchman's breeches spills by a steep bank Rocky to the edge of the stream. The flowers we salute at the end of April when they begin the first days of the hammock. A rose and a white Cornejo add shadow and beauty. Cluster of lilies-of-la-Valle (especially for the fragrance) bass; parades of flower of foam-in-soft white along the shore; Gold thread looks out of the leaves; Jack-in-the-Pulpit is born of dignity in the lea of the wall; Trillium white, bloody and red and yellow wild columbine blooms in succession; forget-me-nots blue and Cardinal flowers thrive on the edge of the stream; Bells of Virginia nod their flowers Bell flank the terrace up and down the Hill and ginkgo, cinnamon ferns Royal grace the area.

Although pine trees are nearby, pine needles cover the floor of the terrace, we have access to a source well of them. Each spring spread a carpet of fresh and perfumed needles gathered at two quilts old dumped in the back of the car and get home. Contribute a pungent odor, a rich brownness, and a carpet of four inches deep, pleasant, soft and resilient to walk to.

A place to call their own
Not have some small area of the same possibility, a remote corner with no sun, an area of trees, a tangle of perhaps, even a grim place where grows things has been difficult? If so, with some pruning, replanning and possibly additional planting you can create an ideal refuge with hammock, simple comfortable furniture and possibly a few old stumps of special character. The area can be large or small really small - and still achieve their purpose, still become a cozy place for distance while an hour or a day, a space dedicated to not do so, but the simple art of being.

Our retirement shadow has given us the opportunity to grow some of the most beautiful of plants, ferns, some conifers, some shrubs and many flowers. Shadow most plants do not need any special attention once they are established.

Laurel mountain is a large evergreen leaves wide area isolated shade. Want to peaty, sandy soil, always acid (not CALs). Rhododendron is another good perennial flowering. When he looks out the window in winter, rhododendrons indicates the temperature. When you see the leaves curly as cigars, is very, very cold and best put in that extra sweater.

Humid and acid
Azaleas in shades of Crimson, pink, flame, white and yellow are particularly successful in a forest environment. Some are fragrant. The plants grow from two to ten meters in height. Acidic soils and oak leaf mulch is beneficial. The white fragrant flowers of the swamp azalea open in July, after the other. You don't have their feet in a swamp to thrive, but shade and rich soils of leaf mould are given.

Other favorite plants for shade are crested iris, countless varieties of native wild violets and myrtle Vinca (Vinca minor). Heart of bleeding (the variety of height) and begonias (especially tuberous) add love. Blue Phlox is lavender with a scent of meadow. Plant has white flowers and blue and the grey and green leaves. Each flower lasts only one day, but many flowers come continually. Japanese Anemone leads resistant pink flowers. Mist flower displays hairy violet blue flowers in the autumn and spreads beautifully.

This shaded area provides a splendid holiday destination for many of the plants which will also add a decorative note.

Tuberous Begonias in baths will be precious, and if by chance go orchids, as we are, here is the dream for the orchids of summer. As Sun morning or afternoon, so our crash (using cut in re-shaped old wire hangers) in the trees on the edges of the area and establish some on the walls of containment where are Sun until about eleven in the morning and four in the afternoon.

Peace Lily Plant Care - Best Method For Having Beautiful Foliage and Fragrant Blooms

The peace lily is one the most popular houseplants you will come across. Maybe its because It has beautiful dark-green, glossy foliage and oval shaped leaves. Or perhaps its attractive white blossoms are its main attraction. Whatever your interest in this plant may be, lets take at a few tips to help you grow this wonderful plant.

Purify the air:

The peace lily is native to Central and South America rain forests, capable of adapting to low light conditions. Environmental pollutants including benzene and formaldehyde can be cleaned from the air with the addition of this plant. Its central spike, reaches a length of thirty centimeters, is white, yellow or green in color. Its central spike, reaches a length of thirty centimeters, is white, yellow or green in color.

Sunlight Needs:

It does have a preference for bright light, but it can tolerate dim light, and will thrive under artificial light. This adaptability makes it a great house, office or workplace plant. Optimal growth is reach when placed five to eight feet from a window. When the leaves begin to wither, that is an indicator of excessive direct sun.

Plant and maintenance care home - the five best tips for the maintenance of their paints good interior plants

Do see that beautiful house acquired sad within weeks of that put it in the home or Office? Remember that tropical plants cultivated in a pot in the interior are in an extremely artificial environment. Here are five simple ways to help your plants to survive in the interior:

1. Put the right plant on the site, the level of light is the most important factor to place a plant, but many plants are tolerant to a wide range of lighting conditions; below are some extreme examples of plants for the light and shadow normally found in the interior:

"Bright Sparks": Sansevieria (mother in law tongue), Areca Palm, Ficus benjamina (weeping fig), Aloe vera, Zamiculcus zamifolia (plant ZZ).
"Dark characters: Spathiphyllum (Peace Lily), Kentia Palm, Calathea, Philodendron (plant of the bride), arrowroot (plant of thorns)."

2. Irrigation. Different plants have different water requirements but irrigation is usually the top of the list of ways to kill your house plants, you can literally "kill them with kindness". Never leave permanent plants in a sauce of water. Number 2 on the list is under irrigation. It is not possible to give specific instructions for irrigation; It depends on the environmental conditions and requirements of the plants. As a general rule the compound almost dry to remove the plant for its decorative container or dish and give it a good stop then let drain completely before bring it back. Water plants less in winter (when light levels are low and the plants are dormant semi).

This may sound daunting but do not despair, there is a very easy way for their plants get only the water they need - use planters of self-watering. The best auto irrigation containers are also very elegant, making the role of perfect design for your plants and the integral water tank need not increase up to 12 weeks - so no concerns when you are.

3. Buy plants of quality As with many things in life, if the Pact seems too good to be true, it is probably. Often inexpensive plants not correctly its roots or home aclimatan conditions "not greenhouse". It is better to buy specialized suppliers who know your plants and can give advice before and after making your purchase.

4. Things to avoid. Do not place your plant near sources of heat such as radiators or fire. Keep plants in air conditioning ducts and cold air currents.

5. Things to do the majority of the plants benefit from one with occasional to compensate for the environment of low humidity in the interior of the majority. Occasionally feed on payment of specialist plant - do not use general purpose garden plant food - this is particularly important for las Palmas (recommending a payment of Palma specialist). They only feed during the season of growth (from April to September), never in the winter months.

In short, only three things virtually guarantee the health of their house plants:

or buy quality plants
or put the plants in the right place
or use containers self-watering

Interior plants do not need to be hard work, follow these simple guidelines and you will enjoy a fabulous display of tropical plants in the coming years.

Planting dahlias for late summer landscape Color

Dahlias are a wonderful late summer color swatch in the landscape. These plants are lovers of warm weather and die with the first frosts. Prepare the ground well and planted deep tubers when the soil is warm. The soil is usually prepared before planting time.

Once I heard at a club garden meeting "to use the old cow dung", and place it in the hole with a layer of top soil on manure. Does a lady asked the embarrassment of... how old a cow? "That was the end of that meeting."

In the selection of tubers for planting. make certain that a part of the old mother is present otherwise, no plant; Root from which becomes growth is only in this tissue of stem. Dig the hole plantation (soil preparation hole usually three times as deep) six inches deep and placed the tuber with the mother or the yolk, if Advanced, pointer up.

In this time, the unit in a game heavy for varieties that need support and dahlias most do. Putting the risks in the workplace at the time of sowing, eliminates the danger of damage roots later. Fill in the soil on the tuber to about three inches and sign below. Water thoroughly, ensuring that the tuber is well covered with Earth. As the plant grows, gradually fill around it until the ground is level. Water with caution to avoid the breakdown of tubers as the plant does not require an abundance of water until it is at least a half grown. As more plants, however, it will require deep immersion during its height of flowering, which is usually the summer.

Another plant in summer that it gives much to change and they can be planted this month is the garden canna. Rhizomes should have four eyes for better results and they sprouted in trays of wet sand in a protected place, normally you get a better start. The appropriate Rhizome should cover four inches deep. These plants are heavy feeders and require lots of water during the season. Many of the colors of the flowers are available... red, pink, white, yellow and orange. The foliage is also wonderful to arrange, with or without flowers. Many gardeners grow the variety of sheet bronze foliage only.

There are many bulbs of flowers of summer, which began in may, and some of the Favorites are tigridias or flowers of shells, anemones, ranunculus, tuberous begonias, Nerine lilies, hemerocallis, agapanthus and gloxinias. Some of these require special attention. You can not grow in a landscape that "thrives on neglect". The secret to success with bulbs of flowers of summer is when the soil has warmed, well water plant and feed slightly, rather than crop mulch and lift the roots of storage after the frosts and store for the next season.

Annual: Annual plants seeds should be on the ground during May. This wonderful group of plants is one of our most valuable sources of color. The history of the plants in this group are from seeds and return of seeds in a single season. Use annual as a cover to overplanting spring bulb locations as borders in plantations of the shrub, such as masses of colour for purposes of accent and many other ways in the garden. They are easy to grow and give color throughout the summer.

Most of them can be used for flowers in the House when you are in the process of elimination of Green Peace Lily flowers the list is long and tempting. Try a docena-zinnia, petunia. Alyssum. Phlox, Crest of Gallo, ageratum, Snapdragon. pea, Sage, Vinca, Delphinium and wonder. Just look at the new varieties of the above list of old favorites.

Puppies - kitten-correction of in-home care

Take home a new kitten is comparable to one with a child at home. Kittens love to investigate and explore - is a process of learning, part of the behavior of kitten and essential for the development of kitten. As pet owners responsible for that we need to ensure that your environment is safe.

Take a look at your home from the perspective of a kitten. You'll be surprised at the possible dangers that exist in a home, that we take for granted or simply ignore.

Therefore, what dangers could our beloved new kitten exposed to and what threat posed by these things to our intrepid explorers little.

Asphyxia

Kittens love to pursue, bite and play football with any article left out there. These cat games are fun, but ensure that the following items to prevent accidental ingestion are kept:

Jewelry
Buttons
Clips of paper, needles, pins, screws
Coins
Rubber bands
Tablets and capsules
Feathers and bones
Dental floss toys kitten should not contain small objects that can easily be removed

The list is endless, so we summarize by saying that small includes nothing enough that if ingested can pose a problem with asphyxia (or obstruction of respiratory tract of the kitten). Christmas ornaments are particularly dangerous. Tinsel, garlands and ornaments serve as ideal toys and kittens will be attracted by them shine and twist of the tree. Christmas lights, mask, could cause electrocution.

Electrocution

All exposed cables, TV, heating and cooling equipment, sound, lights, and many more teams need be filed or covered. An electric cable that is bitten or cables that are taken in can have disastrous results.

Burns

Electrical burns or burns from other sources of heat in the home exposed fireplace, candles, electric ovens and hobs of flicker as heaters, can be fatal.

Cats are attracted by the warmth of a heater, the aroma of food on a hot stove (or in an oven) and a candle flicker can be considered as a potential toy. In addition to Burns, a sail hit on is a potential fire hazard.

Poisoning

Poisoning could be of two categories - plants or chemicals.
There are literally hundreds of plants, which if ingested by his kitten, could cause problems gastrointestinal or neurological or worse yet - death. We have listed some of the most common plants in homes and gardens that are poisonous:

Azalea, Aloe Vera, calendula, mistletoe, baby's breath, Narciso, Easter Lily, Philodendron, rhododendrons, flor de Pascua, geranium, tiger lily, oleander, ear of elephant, eucalyptus, holly, common or laurel cherry, dieffenbachia

How can accommodate behavior of your kitten and his style of life:?

Keep the plants in a room that her kitten does not have access to.
Plants to suspend in hooks or keep them on higher shelves beyond the reach of an inquisitive Kitty
Training puppies to desist from biting plants begins with a simple "No" and a squirt of water.
Plants to give someone without animals domestic or children that their choice is powder of the leaves with Cayenne, an especial-repelente cat or paint the leaves of the bitter apple or sour orange plant.

We use a wide range of chemicals in our homes that can have a negative impact on the delicate system and puppies.

Chemicals used for spraying or exterminate termites, cockroaches and other pests domestic are harmful to your cat. You can avoid the contact for organizing your kitten and other pets to the Board at a breeding ground for 2 to 3 days after spraying.
Other chemical products we use every day should be stored away - these include chlorine, toilets, cleaning of drainage cleaners, acids of the pool and disinfectants, pesticides and antifreeze.
Cats use their legs to cleaning, which is why we need to ensure that the surface to walk on is free of residues of greasers and tile cleaners/strippers.

Suffocation and crushing

This is probably one of the most common causes of injury to the cats. Kittens, as mentioned above, like explore and investigate and his favorite game kitten is hidden!

Puppies, in search of warmth, tranquility and a cat nap, crawl in and in the places most curious. The back of reclining chairs, under and behind the sofa cushions, Motors vehicles engine, stoves, ovens, refrigerators, laundry washers and clothes dryers.

We urge you to review before sitting down and always check before cooking, unit or activate the washer or dryer. Take a last look before closing the door of the fridge or freezer and ultimately reduce the lid of the toilet at all times.

Plastic bags do not make ideal kitten toys. It can be fun to see her cute kitten running in and out of a plastic bag, but keep in mind that plastic bags are a huge risk of choking.

Drowning

Buckets of water, bathrooms, bathrooms and pools pose a potential threat. You have kitten of water and never leave unattended baths, basins and buckets of water.

Cat litter

Clumping cat litter is not recommended for use by the Cubs. If you swallow the cat litter, it can cause bowel obstruction. Pine, wood or paper cat litter is recommended for kittens.

A well soundproofed House cat, which includes having screens on doors and Windows, will ensure long and healthy life for your kitten.

Indoor cats live longer than the cats to outdoor already that are less exposed to threats such as:
Dominant / cats
Dogs
Parasites and other diseases of cat
Motor vehicle accidents
Environmental conditions such as rain, cold and the heat stroke
Human beings 'anti-cat'

Thus it is always aware of the potential hazards and provide your cat with a healthy diet, annual checkups and vaccinations - your kitten might be a faithful companion for 20 years!

The Betta Bowl - a furious controversy

Betta bowls have received harsh criticism from ethicists aquarium in the world. In fact, in Rome have passed a law to prohibit the Betta bowls. The reason for this dissatisfaction towards the tank is the new understanding on how to properly maintain fish pets. The bowl is simply not ideal for the majority of the types of fish. It is not convenient to attach any type of heating, filtration or any other type of accessory for aquarium fish most needed in order to promote good health.

The bowl used universally known fish of gold of the housing. These days with the growing public awareness and more thought put into care, has been an all but abolished practice. Fish of gold too large for a caregiver of fish of principle and should ideally be kept in ponds or very large tanks. Another factor that made them terrible pet Bowl Betta is the fact that tend to eat a lot and produce a large amount of waste. Fish bowls were worse only possible to ship the Golden fish from the House.

The modern, more aware aquarists are now recognizing that most fish need much more than they can deliver a simple Betta Bowl. There is a kind of fish that thrives in an environment of the tank and is the Betta fish. With modern methods of imports and the strong demand for these beautiful fish, the Betta is to replace the goldfish classic and make balls of popular fish again.

The Betta is almost a perfect vessel for housing and feeding for a variety of reasons. First of all, one is that feeding only grow two or three inches maximum. Another is its body of labyrinth which allows them to breathe air from the water. Feeding with their fins long flowing is almost incapable of swimming in nothing more than water and they are comfortable in moderate temperatures in the room. In fact there are some native breeders successfully in Thailand keep your Betta fish in bottles of 2 liters.

Why is it larger even better?

It must always be the main concern about the level of comfort for your Betta. Constantly stressed fish will not last long, so it is important to take into account when configuring their habitat. Temperature control is also very important; If you plan to maintain your Betta in an environment that tends to have wild temperature swings below, you can think of a bigger tank. If you have a small container in water temperature can change more quickly than if it had a larger tank. It may also want to invest in a water heater just to make sure that the water at the right temperature. Small water heaters are common and can be difficult to control in small balls.

An ideal vessel should be on one gallon of water to a comfortable size open at the top. The opening is important for the Betta go out to the surface and breathe, and also "hunt" for any food that may be available. A problem with the size of the container is the management of waste. No matter how large or small is a fish tank; the water will have to change regularly. You should try to make these responsible for little with a minimal amount of stress caused to fish.

The concern of comfort

There is some controversy on how "convenient" may be a fish in a bowl environment and how it is designed for a life of Solitude-style. While it is true that some of the captured wild variety may require more space and can have a different approach altogether. The majority of the Betta are raised and bred in captivity tend to prefer a more closed environment. You can now vary accordingly. Feeding, like people, can vary in personality so always try to be aware of what their preferences are feeding, but I am sure that you will find that very few of these fish prefer bowls Betta.

The pruning of an art of intelligent plant

Careful, intelligent psychotherapy may make the difference between an eyesore, and an eye-catching came of perfect beauty. Neglecting to train and prune to vine can result in dense, smothering masses that hide desirable architectural lines, shut off light, break down fences and other structures, and harbor insects. Once the growth has become an impenetrable mass, it is nearly impossible to shape it without cutting the whole thing back and starting over again. And this may cause a woody vine to become even more rampant and difficult to handle. It's often better to cut out a seriously overgrown came completely, and replace it with a young, more manage plant.

Shaping or training to vine as it grows is neither difficult nor arduous, but it does require an understanding of the plant's growing habit - and particularly whether it flowers on this season's new wood, or on old wood of the previous season. Lack of knowledge that vines differ in this way has led many to gardener to trim off bud-bearing stems unwittingly.

As a general rule, woody vines are purposefully pruned once a year. Some vigorous types get a secondary thinning in late summer. Dead wood and undesirable growth are removed whenever they appear. In the following summary all types of vines are covered in one category or another. Check the varietal descriptions in Part Two for notes on flowering and other habits that affect psychotherapy methods and frequency.

Flowering vines are pruned to thin and shape, admit sunlight and air, and promote bloom. Time psychotherapy so that there is the longest possible period for production of new flowering wood. Flower on last year's wood that vines are pruned after flowering, and then only lighty immediately. Remove any dead wood in late winter or spring, before new growth begins earliest.

Flower on new wood that vines are pruned more severely. Specimens had on pillars or tripods are cut back immediately after flowering, to keep them shapely and within assigned limits, and encourage fresh, new growth. Summer - and fall-flowering varieties are pruned hard when they are dormant, in late winter or spring earliest. All stems are cut back to within ten inches or less of the ground, unless the vines were planted to cover a large area.

For foliage vines, the time of psychotherapy is not so critical, although late winter or earliest spring dormant psychotherapy is recommended, so there is no "bleeding." Both deciduous and evergreen varieties are easier to handle at this time, before new growth begins.

Covering vines, planted to wander at will over banks and up tree trunks and rocks, are pruned lightly during dormancy. Remove only dead or undesirable growth, or crossing or tangled stems.

Vines clinging to walls are thinned lighty, during the dormant period. Remove or redirect any growth that threatens to cover a window or screen. When growth reaches the top of the wall, cut off new shoots that climb into or around gutters, out along telephone wires, or over the roof to undermine shingles. Remove heavy, free-hanging stems that lean away from the wall and could be loosened by strong winds. Thin out all dense, unattractive, unhealthy growth.

Edwin vines, of course, die back to the ground in winter. Simply clear away dead stems and leaves like my problem about peace lily care brown leaves. Little or no psychotherapy is required in summer, except occasionally to keep the effect light and shapely.

Root-prune vines that outgrow their bounds no matter how you prune the stems, or those that regularly produces dense masses of foliage but few flowers. With a sharp spade, cut down as deep as possible into the soil (and through the roots) in to complete circle about three feet out from the base of the plant. By restricting the size and spread of the roots, you also restrict the amount of top the roots can feed and support growth.
